Why Evmos?
Evmos is the EVM implementation and cornerstone of the Cosmos ecosystem, which is a network of interconnected appchains that can freely exchange assets and data across sovereign blockchains using their IBC (Inter-Blockchain Communications) Protocol. Evmos brings the world of Ethereum-based applications and assets to the interoperable networks of the Cosmos ecosystem.
Two months ago, the Evmos community voted by over 97.5% to bring Covalent into the ecosystem through their integration proposal which included running the #OneMillionWallets hackathon.
Not just about wallets
#OneMillionWallets is a premier onboarding campaign to bring developers into a blockchain ecosystem and build & learn in web3. Despite the name, #OneMillionWallets is much more than a hackathon about wallets. Leveraging the Covalent Unified API, developers can access structured on-chain and multi-chain data for account balances, transactions, NFTs, DEX and DAO analytics, decoded smart contract log events and much more through a familiar and consistent REST interface developers love and expect. Developers do not need to worry about hosting infrastrucutre, writing custom SQL queries or waiting for data to be indexed and available as they can focus on building their projects and evaluating use cases. This is why nearly 600 hackathon projects have been built using the Covalent API in just 2022 alone.

The event kicks off on Monday, November 7 with a dedicated Launch Event followed by several technical workshops.
The event concludes on Wednesday, December 14 with a live Finale and Prizegiving presentation where the best projects are showcased and awarded the top prizes!

About Evmos
Evmos is a scalable, high-throughput Proof-of-Stake blockchain that is fully compatible and interoperable with Ethereum. It’s built using the Cosmos SDK which runs on top of Tendermint Core consensus engine.
Evmos allows for running vanilla Ethereum as a Cosmos application-specific blockchain. This allows developers to have all the desired features of Ethereum, while at the same time, benefit from Tendermint’s PoS implementation. Also, because it is built on top of the Cosmos SDK, it will be able to exchange value with the rest of the Cosmos Ecosystem through the Inter Blockchain Communication Protocol (IBC).
