Covalent Takes Whistler on our First Company Retreat!

TL;DR: From September 10-12th, the Covalent team embarked on our first company retreat in Whistler, Canada!

With everyone on the team vaccinated, this was the first time we could assemble the whole crew for a weekend of fun (and a little strategy šŸ˜‰).

This time last year, Covalent had 3 employees. Over the course of a year we raised funds, launched CQT, hired over 30 people, expanded our community to 2500, listed on multiple exchanges, included L2 chains, and more. We arenā€™t stopping any time soon.

This retreat was a celebration of how far weā€™ve come, but also how many great things we know are on our path ahead.

On Friday, we arrived in Whistler and made our way up to Cougar Mountain where we each got our yearly dose of adrenaline on an ATV tour!

After the ATV tour -still a little muddy- we enjoyed a team lunch all together, before heading to our rooms to get ready for a private showing of the Audain Art Museum. During the tour, we learned wonderful stories and the history of significant BC artists!

Following our tours of the gallery, we came together for Covalent cocktails and a banquet dinner which was marked by an inspiring speech by our CEO and co-founder Ganesh Swami. At Covalent, one of the core values we champion is ā€œrelentlessnessā€. There isnā€™t a better way to describe that value than by listening to the story of how this company came together and persevered against all odds. The milestones we pass only encourage us to work harder on our mission to build the data layer of web3.

We Covalent-bonded (lol) and spent the evening with each other, good music, and great vibes. We even had ice sculptures!

Finally, on Saturday morning we sat down in a conference room for a full-on strategy session to take us into Q4 and the year ahead. This was a great way to hear from every single team member on what weā€™re succeeding at and where we can do better.

Weā€™re committed to challenging ourselves and making sure weā€™re giving our all, no matter what the market has in store.

The rest of the weekend we had personal time to spend with family and relax, although funnily enough most of us couldnā€™t stay away from each other!

Lessons Learned

  • We have some excellent ATV drivers
  • We're ready to support AlchemistDAO and the global expansion of our community
  • We could easily form a top-notch dance team ;)
  • We collectively understand where we can improve, and we're ready to take action
  • The year ahead is going to be mind-blowing

Everybody also got to meet our newest and youngest member, baby Zoya! We might have to start making more of these onesies...
