We caught up with Rebecca Mqamelo, Head of Growth at Zerion, to see how they are using Covalent’s API to bootstrap integrations on their DeFi asset-management interface. Here is what they had to say about Covalent’s API.
Q: Can you explain the product?
Zerion is the ultimate DeFi investment interface, allowing you to discover every asset on the market, trade at the best rates and manage your portfolio across wallets and chains. Zerion tracks over 50 protocols and supports every major decentralized exchange, giving you single-transaction access to every DeFi asset class, including indexes, pools and yield strategies.
Q: What use case(s) does the Covalent API help you solve?
The Covalent API has been a critical infrastructure piece for our multi-blockchain strategy. For example, using the Covalent API, we’ve been able to show balances and positions across Polygon (previously known as Matic) and the Binance Smart Chain. The exact data that we are pulling for these blockchains includes transactional data, including historical and granular data, as well as a user’s token balances, and transaction history.
Q: What end points are you using?
Class A end points are used.
Of course, we use the Covalent API to query multiple blockchains which is as simple as changing the chainID parameter.
Q: In your own words how do you feel Covalent is helping power your project?
Covalent has been an important bootstrap tool for how we integrate new blockchains to our interface. Using the Covalent API, we’ve been able to efficiently respond to multi-chain demand from thousands of users without having to first build these resources in-house.
Given our remote-first startup team, this strategy shifts the burden from our engineers, who can prioritize what we do best in the short term (tracking and trading) and only later build our own integrations that are more tailored to our needs.
All of the endpoints mentioned above and used by Zerion can be found below.
Zerion is the ultimate DeFi investment interface, allowing you to discover every asset on the market, trade at the best rates and manage your entire DeFi portfolio from one place.
Zerion tracks over 50 protocols, making it easy to find your tokens spread across multiple DeFi platforms and Ethereum addresses.
We also source liquidity from every major decentralized exchange, giving you single-transaction access to liquidity pools, automated strategies, and indexes from protocols like Uniswap, Curve, Balancer, yearn.finance, TokenSets, and others.
Rebecca is Head of Growth at Zerion. Her experience spans the for-profit and non-profit sides of decentralized finance, including extensive research on community currency programs as a tool for regenerative aid. When she isn’t helping degens max their APY, she’s writing on politics and culture for popular South African publications, mentoring African startups, or sharing her experiences at www.rebeccamqamelo.com.
Covalent leverages big-data technologies to create meaning from hundreds of billions of data points, delivering actionable insights to investors and allowing developers to allocate resources to higher-utility goals within their organization. Instead of pain-stakingly sourcing data from a small handful of chains, Covalent aggregates information from across dozens of sources including nodes, chains and data feeds. The Covalent API then sources end users with individualized data by wallet, including current and historical investment performance across all types of digital assets. Most importantly, Covalent returns this data in a rapid and consistent manner, incorporating all relevant data within one API interface.
