Overview

Blockchain developers received a significant boost this week as Covalent, a leading structured data provider, made its debut on the QuickNode Marketplace. This exciting partnership delivers a powerful solution that seamlessly integrates Covalent's extensive onchain data tools with QuickNode’s industry-leading infrastructure. Whether you’re enhancing wallet applications, developing DeFi protocols or promoting NFT collections, this combination unlocks unparalleled data accessibility and efficiency for developers through a single interface.

What is the QuickNode Marketplace?

The QuickNode Marketplace is designed to provide developers with seamless access to a curated selection of Web3 tools and services. Serving as a one-stop shop for onchain development needs, it offers a diverse range of internal RPCs, APIs, and external partner ‘add-ons’. By connecting developers with high-quality, vetted services, QuickNode Marketplace aims to streamline the development journey, enabling rapid deployment and optimization of projects.

At the heart of the QuickNode Marketplace is a vision to democratize blockchain development and empower developers with cutting-edge tools. The addition of Covalent aligns well with this mission, offering a set of multichain add-ons that can be accessed via the Unified API, various SDKs and a frontend React framework called GoldRush Kit.

Covalent Add-Ons

Covalent currently offers the following add-ons via the QuickNode Marketplace:

  1. Transactions API - provides all historical transactions with human-readable events and fiat prices for 200+ blockchains.

  2. Wallet API - provides all current and historical wallet balances and transfers for ERC20, NFTs and native tokens. Wallet data is provided for 200+ blockchains including Solana and Bitcoin.

  3. NFT API - provides cached NFT asset and metadata along with sales history, ownership, trait and attribute filters along with spam filtering on Ethereum and Polygon.

  4. Blockchain API - provides all block, transaction & event-level onchain data for 200+ blockchains

  5. Cross-Chain Activity API - provides a snapshot of a wallet's Web3 activity with one API call by providing a list of active chains and the ‘last-seen’ date.

  6. Security API - helps secure wallets by providing a list of all token and NFT contracts that can spend on a wallet's behalf. The API includes the allowance granted in approvals, value-at-risk and a risk assessment.

  7. GoldRush Kit - beautifully designed, open-source React components for frontends.

While all the add-ons provide value for developers looking to build with onchain data rapidly, we are currently seeing most of the activity around the Transactions and Wallet APIs which reflects the fact that these core endpoints have been iterated and improved on multiple times and are best-in-class.

How to get started with the Covalent Add-Ons

To get started with using the Covalent add-ons via the QuickNode Marketplace:

  1. Select an add-on. Search the full list at: https://marketplace.quicknode.com/?&search=covalent . Note that all add-ons are currently in Beta and an add-on gets published after an initial four week trial period and when there are at least 25 subscribers.

  2. Review add-on. Each add-on has a dedicated landing page with full details on what you get, common use cases and code samples from our 3 primary developer tools: Unified (REST) API, Client SDKs and GoldRush Kit (React components).

  3. Select and Pay for a Plan. Through the QuickNode Marketplace, Covalent offers the following plans:

    1. Premium - $50/mo, 50K API credits

    2. Professional - $250/mo, 300K API credits

    3. Platinium - $500/mo, 650K API credits

API credits are consumed by the various add-ons using the developer tools (Unified API, Client SDKs, GoldRushKit). Users need to effectively purchase credits in tiers which is different than the ‘pay-as-you-go’ model supported directly by Covalent.

  4. Click on ‘Take me to provider’. This will direct you to the Covalent Platform Landing page where you can see details of your API key including usage, code snippets, and links to other developer resources.
