SpeedRun Is Going Live with Base Mini Apps
gSpeed
We’re super excited to announce that SpeedRun officially supports Base Mini App builds starting today. Go from prompt to deployment in minutes, and share your builds into a growing ecosystem without friction.
Base has been on a tear. Activity, builders, and users keep flowing in, and the Base App is quickly becoming the front door for that ecosystem, an inherently social place where people discover new onchain experiences. Base now secures over $12B in value and regularly handles tens of millions of transactions per day, putting it near the top of Ethereum L2s by usage and value secured.
On the consumer side, Base App was launched in beta only a few months ago and has already onboarded tens of thousands of users helping to push the Coinbase Smart Wallet past 1 million accounts. The recent big growth spike is tied directly to the Base App rollout, where lucky power users of the Coinbase Smart Wallet get to try it out. This growing install base is beckoning builders to tap in.
Base App is inherently social because of Base Mini Apps. Not quite onchain apps, not quite content, but deeply engaging. These are tiny, focused onchain apps that live right inside the Base App feed. And starting today with SpeedRun, anyone can now build and deploy these Base Mini Apps directly to the Base App. You don’t need a Solidity team, and with freshly updated UI training you don’t need a front-end squad to ship them either. Anyone can get based using natural language.
Base App + Base Mini Apps: The New Front Door
The Base App is more than a wallet. It’s an onchain companion that combines discovery, chat, payments, earning, and onchain app interaction in one place, with Base Mini Apps surfaced directly in a social-style feed. Users scroll curated content and token posts, tap into onchain flows directly from the feed, and discover new protocols, quests, and tools as they appear.
These small, self-contained onchain apps look like content, a card, a post, a tile in your feed, but when you interact with them you can read onchain data, trigger transactions, and complete multi-step flows without ever leaving the Base App. Disguised as posts, these single-purpose tools, quests, drops, dashboards, trader helpers, and onchain agents, built previously by developer creators are easily shareable. Because Base Mini Apps are account and wallet-aware, they can pull in balances, positions, and histories, and guide users through actions with clear steps. Exactly the kind of build needs SpeedRun was designed to generate with a prompt from many builder-curious.
The Base App’s social layer runs on Farcaster, where Frames have already proved that a post can be a tiny onchain app without leaving your feed. Base Mini Apps extend that pattern into Coinbase’s rich Base App feed. Frames and Base Mini Apps sit side by side, so users don’t have to learn anything new. We’re still early in this mental model, which is exactly why now is the moment to build.
Why Base Mini Apps Fit the SpeedRun Ethos
SpeedRun was built on a simple belief that onchain apps are going to feel more like content than like 10-year companies.
Narratives move in days, not quarters. Memes, trades, and seasons spin up, peak, and fade. Builders, and by builders we mean everyone, needs a way to ship small, sharp, ephemeral experiences fast.
SpeedRun-built Base Mini Apps are a no-brainer for us. It gives your builds built in distribution, where your Base Mini App sits right next to memes, charts, and social posts instead of hiding behind a separate URL. They embrace ephemerality, where ephemeral onchain experiences are like episodes in a series, with one for a launch, one for a quest, and one for a specific trade idea.
Base Mini Apps match the prompt-native ethos of SpeedRun, onchain apps in a feed are something you spin up, remix, and repost in minutes. Under the hood, SpeedRun gives Base Mini Apps the exact features they inherently need. GoldRush for ultra-fast onchain Base data many Mini Apps depend on, x402 support (built by Coinbase) for programmable payments, Clanker support (acquired by Farcaster) for token launches and reward flows, and out-of-the-box smart contract development (without you knowing Solidity) so you can define your onchain logic for your Base Mini App.
Build a Base Mini App with SpeedRun
We’re kicking this off as a build sprint. Every Base Mini App you deploy with SpeedRun, plus a short video posted on the Base App, Farcaster, or X/Twitter, helps shape what the feed feels like next. Ship something weird, sharp, or genuinely useful, and then show it off. Drop your Mini App link and clip so everyone can tap in and try what you built.
Here are some ideas to steal, fork, or remix:

A quest Mini App where users complete onchain meme challenges—mint this, bridge that, tip a creator—and level up a battle pass with onchain rewards.DeFi Rage Quit Button
One tap in your feed that closes out a specific strategy: unwind a vault, swap everything back to a stablecoin, and show how you did overall with a sad or funny GIF.Onchain Wordle / Guess the Wallet
Each day, reveal a pattern of transactions or tokens and let users guess which project or wallet it is. Winners auto-mint a badge or claim a small reward.“Is This a Rug?” Detector
Paste any meme token, pull live liquidity, holder concentration, and contract flags, then slap on a meme-tier rating from “Probably Fine” to “Don’t You Dare.”Community Potion Mixer
Let a community combine multiple tokens or NFTs into a single “potion” basket, with live price and composition charts powered by GoldRush data.SpeedRun Clip Arcade
Turn your own apps into content: short clips or screenshots of SpeedRun builds, each one tappable as a Mini App so viewers can instantly try what they just watched.
Base is handing you a new canvas inside their app, and SpeedRun gives you the tools to fill it. Think of one tiny experience you’d actually tap in your own Base App feed, a quest, a meme tool, a trader toy, a community ritual, then go prompt it into existence on SpeedRun. Ship Base Mini Apps, and drop your links. Every Base Mini App deployed this week helps shape the Base App feed.
